March Guided Garden Tour

This event will be the first in a series of Guided Garden Tour throughout the year.

Pentillie's owners, Ted and Sarah Coryton, will lead you on a private tour of the gardens, to include their favourite spots and some of the Castle's more colourful history.
 
Afternoon tea will be served after the tour. £12.50pp. Booking essential.

Cornwall Garden Society Lecture - Woodland Gardening By Ken Cox

Woodland Gardening by Ken Cox.

Ken Cox is at the helm of the world famous Glendoick Gardens and Nursery in Scotland started by his grandfather. He has led many collecting expeditions in SE Asia. Often overlooked, Ken Cox will suggest the most appropriate and beautiful shrubs and plants to grow in these exacting conditions.
 
No booking required. Lecture begins at 2.30pm. Non-CGS members £5. Opportunity to walk Pentillie grounds before lecture BUT please DO NOT arrive before 1pm.
 
2012 garden open day

Pentillie's gardens will be open to the public again this Spring.

Open on Sunday 25th March, and again on Sunday 15th April.

£6 entry per person (children under 12 free). Gardens open from 11am-4pm. No booking required.

Sadly no dogs are allowed. Refreshments available in the Castle.

Charity Art Exhibition - Life Drawings by Eleanor Grace Scarborough (1881-1968)

Displayed in the Bathing Hut this exhibition is part of the Pentillie Garden Open Day.


This remarkable collection of life drawings was recently discovered in an attic and has not been seen for a hundred years. These pictures are the creative works of Eleanor Grace Scarborough, whose work was exhibited at the Royal Academy in 1905 and agin in 1917. The drawings have been lovingly restored and are displayed as one collection to raise money for wounded soldiers.


No separate entrance fee but donations welcome.

La Traviata

 Presented by The Merry Opera Company. Some people love opera, others have difficulty finding a way in. The Merry Opera Company was set up specifically to delight opera fans and to open a door for newcomers. 
 
It will be an outside production on the glorious terraces overlooking the river. The gardens will be open 2 hours before the performance and refreshments and bar will be available.

Performance starts at 7pm. Tickets: Adults £18, Children under 16 £13.50.

Macbeth

The Lord Chamberlain's Men inaugural production was Shakespeare’s most popular play, Macbeth, which kick-started the company’s reputation for vibrant, visually stunning work.
 
Guided by supernatural forces beyond his control and egged on by his ambitious wife, Macbeth starts down a trail of murder and deceit that leads him to the Scottish throne and his own inevitable, catastrophic downfall.
 
An outdoor production on the terrace. Gardens open, refreshments and bar from 5pm.

The Sword in the Stone
12 August 2012
King Arthur and The Sword in the Stone brings a theatrical experience for the whole family.
 
Join Cambridge Touring Theatre as they take you on the mystical and often hilarious adventures of Arthur, a young squire and his tutor, the magical wizard Merlin. Help them solve their quests in order that the prophecy of the sword is fulfilled and Arthur becomes the rightful king of England.
 
Gardens open, refreshments & bar available from 1pm. Children's workshop at 1:45pm. Performance starts at 3pm.
