Delve into the fascinating history of some of the Tamar Valley's most beautiful landscaped gardens....
A unique opportunity to study the life and work of the 18th century landscape designer Humphry Repton (1752-1818), with particular reference to the commissions he carried out in Cornwall in the lower Tamar Valley.
Apart from Pentillie itself, these included Endsleigh, Antony House, Port Eliot, and Catchfrench Manor. Based at Pentillie Castle, the day will include two lectures in the morning and an exclusive guided tour in the afternoon of some of the gardens he worked on which are not normally open to the public.
Hosted by the Coryton family at Pentillie Castle, your tutor for the day will be Keir Davidson, landscape designer, writer and accredited NADFAS lecturer, whose work on Repton can currently be seen at the Repton at Woburn Exhibition, Woburn Abbey (Bedfordshire).
Dinner and B&B accommodation is available on 11th and 12th. For overnight guests arriving on the11th May, there will be a special evening talk on Repton’s background in Norfolk and his involvement with Felbrigg Hall; and for those staying 12th May, a detailed look at images from a number of the Red Books.
