A Fairytale Hen Weekend

We think Elysa’s review of their weekend at Pentillie Castle says it all…

Once upon a time there was a girl who wanted nothing more than to be a princess. Many years later, when the girl got engaged to her prince charming, her friends decided it was about time her dream came true… So they booked Pentillie Castle on Airbnb, packed their ball gowns and headed off on the most enchanted, magical hen weekend anyone had ever seen!

How can I begin to tell you what an amazing experience this has been for us all. From the minute we booked Pentillie the staff were fantastic. From offering to help us plan a treasure hunt around the grounds, to letting us have a tour before we came to stay… they even unpacked our Tesco delivery for us the day we arrived. Their hosting and customer service has been first class. Any time we have emailed with questions they have responded straight away and when we arrived we were greeted with the warmest of welcomes.

During our weekend here everything we could have wanted was catered for. All rooms were en suite and close to each other. There were amenities kits in all the bathrooms, logs for the fires, slippers and dressing gowns. The comfiest beds and most amazing bath tubs and power showers. The kitchen was all ready to be used, all kinds of utensils, chopping boards, a dish washer and fridge freezer complete with ice machine. We had full use of the whole castle and grounds, which was perfect for our Cinderella treasure hunt, and there were lovely scenic walks and trails to go on. There’s also a games room in the cellar complete with pool table, board games and a TV/DVD system. On our first night at the castle we held a candle lit murder mystery in the dining room. The Pentillie staff provided us with candelabra and we played haunting classical music through the sound system. It was the perfect setting!

Have you ever had one of those moments when you thought to yourself.. “I want to remember this forever…” Well that was how I felt, waking up in the Coryton suite and opening the curtains to the most beautiful view of the river, with daffodils dancing in the morning sunlight and pheasant roaming freely in the garden. The only noise I could hear were birds singing and there wasn’t a soul to be seen for miles… (All the girls were still in bed!)… Perfect!

On behalf of all 15 of us girls that stayed, I’d like to thank Sammie, Jack and Letty for helping us, and letting us, have our magical weekend here. We all felt so lucky to be waking up in such a beautiful castle, surrounded by breathtaking views. It was a special weekend that none of us will ever forget. And I know for a fact, a few of the girls are already planning on coming back to stay with their partners for a romantic weekend away! You haven’t seen the last of us… We’ll be back!!    The Hens, April 2016
