Well, where do I start? We have lived only 20 miles away from this wonderful place all of our lives and have never stayed here. Can’t believe we have missed out. In 2000 acres of beautiful countryside it is a stunning property. Our welcome and introduction to the castle and our amazing room (the Dewhurst suite with a stunning 4 poster bed) was warm, friendly and informative. It is a family run business and the staff are passionate and proud of what they have to offer. Each room is unique, beautifully furnished and immaculately clean and appointed.
We were greated with afternoon tea for two in our room and a brief history of the building and the family. The castle is adorned with beautiful fixtures and fittings and comes with a huge amount of history.
There is a great breakfast menu which will cater for all dietary requirements.
They offer an ‘honesty bar’ in the drawing room which is well stocked. You have the entire use of the house 24/7 which includes the use of the kitchen if you need that little extra milk for your tea or coffee. We are seasoned travellers and have been fortunate enough to have stayed in some incredible hotels, but this isn’t a hotel. It is a home from home tranquil stay where you feel part of the family. We have never stayed anywhere quite like it before. Your every need is catered for and nothing is too much trouble. With fantastic attention to detail and beautiful furnishings throughout the house you can be transported back to a less busier time than we are used to in the modern hum drum world we now live in.
If you are looking for that special 5 star break then I can assure you that you will not be disappointed. The staff are incredibly attentive and friendly, but in a very honest and appreciative way. We really look forward to staying here again soon.
