Celebration, Reception, Party…?

Whatever you want to call it, the Pentillie team will help you make it one of the best memories of your life. Whether you opt for a celebration in a marquee, or a more intimate wedding venue in Cornwall in the Dining Room, the friendly, ‘can do’  team will be on hand to ensure your big day goes seamlessly, and that you and your guests have the time of your life.

The Castle is steeped in character, history and charm giving the perfect backdrop to any celebration, big or small. The terraces with their wonderful views to ‘England’ are very popular for reception drinks, while a croquet match on the lawn could be the perfect activity to get family and friends acquainted.

Though secluded and ‘away from it all’, Pentillie Castle is easy to get to. Our wedding venue near Plymouth is only a 20 minute drive from the city with good rail and road links to the rest of the UK. It’s also a great launch pad for deeper forays into Cornwall – great for guests making a long trip to your wedding.

Reception options

  • Castle only: The ‘magic’ number for civil ceremony and reception without the need for a marquee is 60 guests, with an extra 40 for an evening reception in the castle. 60 guests can be seated comfortably in both the bathing hut and the dining room for your wedding breakfast. After a pause for tea and coffee, dancing takes place in the dining room.
  • Marquee and Castle: With up to 120 guests, you can get married under the pavilion on the tennis lawn (with or without a canopy shelter), before moving to a marquee attached to the loggia for a celebratory meal, and then into the castle dining room to dance the night away!
  • Marquee only: Larger weddings for up to 200 guests can be accommodated in a marquee on the old tennis lawn. Ceremony options are limited with such large numbers, although there are many creative solutions…- a small ceremony for a few guests before extras join you to celebrate, a church wedding, or hand tying ceremony in the lime avenue or apple orchard could all be considered.
