Pentillie Castle is the perfect setting for your perfect day, but where to hold your ceremony?

Not only is Pentillie Castle situated in the heart of the Cornish countryside amongst 55 acres of woodland gardens, but it also has a riverside location sitting on the Cornish banks of the Tamar, with views of Devon and Cornwall over the meandering river. As you can imagine, there are a variety of stunning locations in which to say ‘I do’, but which to choose?

Let’s start inside the Castle. The ‘Dining room’ and the ‘Drawing Room’ are licensed for ceremonies. Both rooms are elegant, intimate and perfect for smaller weddings with up to 60 guests anytime of the year. Head out to the terrace for drinks and canapes after a summer ceremony or stay within the castle walls in winter months whilst the log fire is cracking and roaring.

When the sun is shining you can’t beat an outdoor ceremony. There is a choice of 2 licensed outdoor locations in the immediate grounds of the castle, first, ‘The Old Tennis Lawn’. With your guests seated on lawn, they are in perfect view of a ceremony taking place under the wisteria covered pavilion, which is truly breath taking when in flower during May and June.

The second is ‘The Loggia’ which is situated on the south side of the castle. The loggia features a beautiful double arch, and looks an even more stunning backdrop when decorated with flowers or foliage.

The loggia is also the perfect site for a marquee when your wedding party is larger than 60. Our friends at Hine Marquees have produced a fabulous extra section of marquee that fits seamlessly over the loggia arch and connects to the marquee allowing your guests to flow in and out of the castle at all time, most of the time the bar is situated within the castle giving you more space for a dance floor to boogie the night away. The Drawing Room then becomes a quieter space, which is beneficial for relatives and friends that are looking for a room to relax in and chat over a hot toddy whilst sinking into deep sofas!

Our most romantic spot to get married is the ‘Victorian Bathing Hut’. Standing on its own quay on the banks of the river Tamar, it has to be one of Pentillie’s greatest charms and a completely unique space that you will not find anywhere else.

‘The Stone Circle’ is the highest viewpoint on Pentillie’s 2,000 acre private estate and the location is a perfect canvas for creating your own bespoke DIY wedding. With breath-taking views over the river Tamar to the rolling hills of Dartmoor, it has ample space for a big guest list, and the freedom to create unique and long-lasting memories.
