Room TypeGround Floor Double (with Disabled Access)

The ground floor Warren bedroom was designed specifically for use by those with limited mobility. Pentillie’s architect is an MS sufferer and made sure this room was designed correctly. The room is fitted out for use by anyone in a wheelchair or who cannot manage stairs. The bathroom is laid out as a wet-room with a height adjustable shower and shower seat. Colour contrasts within the room comply with recommendations for the visually impaired. The bed is zip and link (super-king size) and can be a double or two singles. It can also be adapted for hoist use. Furniture is easy to remove from the bedroom if more space is required. Call alarms are fitted in the bedroom and shower room.
Free access to the garden, super fast wi-fi and the outdoor swimming pool (April to September).
Sarah Coryton’s uncle, Charlie Warren, (Sir Brian Charles Pennefeather Warren Bt) was a wonderful character who accidentally shot off his leg while trying to shoot a magpie in his garden. He insisted that a ‘peg leg’ was quite good enough to see out his days, hence the ground-floor bedroom was named in his memory! Sarah thought he would be amused.
Thank you for making our stay at Pentillie Castle so delightful. Everyone was lovely and it felt very comfortable and relaxed. The wheelchair accessible room worked well for me and with the laid on water and brush in the yard, I didn’t have to worry about muddy wheels despite the weather! We really appreciated having a room inside the main house, which compared so favourably to so many places who consign wheelchair users to rooms outside the main building which is anything but delightful on wet , cold and windy nights. We actually felt part of the place and not just a reluctant add on!
We would certainly recommend you and are already planning to pay another visit soon. Jean & Stephen, September 2018
