Victoria and James held their Ceremony in our stunning riverside Bathing Hut followed by Reception Drinks on the sun drenched Terrace, and a sumptuous Italian feast in the Castle Dining Room. This is our Exclusive Hire Pentillie Castle Wedding Package.
Take a peek a short video of Victoria & James’ special day…
Groom’s name and occupation: James – Teacher
Length of engagement: 1 year
Wedding date: 18th July 2015
We met… At school when we dated for a summer in 2004, and then met up again 7 years later and the rest is history!
First impressions of your husband…Tall, good looking, arrogant chappy!
His first impressions of you…Confident, sassy, brown eyed beauty!
What was your proposal? In Dubrovnik, Croatia – we had the top floor of our hotel restaurant to ourselves with a candlelit dinner and views over the Harbour.
What were your wedding theme/ colours? Classic, Romantic, Vintage theme with Peach/Pastel mint/Cream/Gold colours.
How did you choose your bridesmaids/ best man and ushers?
Bridesmaids: Five in total – two were my oldest, dearest school friends who I’ve grown up with, and three were my closest university friends who I’ve shared my late teens and 20’s with!
Ushers: Five in total- three were James’ brother in laws, one a close friend from school days and his best man he met at the rugby club and spent most of his late teens and early 20’s misbehaving with!
We chose our venue because…
Pentillie Castle is a unique, beautiful venue which you can hire for the whole weekend and is self catered so you can pick and choose your suppliers, creating your wedding exactly how you want it! The location was perfect because Victoria is from Cornwall and James from Devon. It is perched right above the River Tamar (the Cornish side!) with incredible views over Cornwall, Devon and Dartmoor; the latter where James grew up!
I chose my dress because…. I wanted a traditional wedding dress but with a modern and romantic twist. I always loved Naomi Neoh dresses from the moment I started looking in magazines, mainly for her stunning silk skirts and soft lace boleros. As soon as I tried ‘my dress’ on I knew it was the one. I wanted a traditional wedding dress but with a modern and romantic twist.
What food did you choose for your Wedding Breakfast?
Our food theme was Italian. We had a three course meal, but the starter of Italian Antipasti was served on the terrace with the Prosecco and canapés so guests could mingle and enjoy the stunning views! The main was Cornish Rump of Lamb in a Lemon and Rosemary Crust, with Crushed New Potatoes and Summer Vegetables, or Butternut Squash Risotto with Toasted Hazelnuts and Sage Leaves. The desserts; the Bride’s choice of Chocolate Almond Torte with Raspberry Coulis and the Groom’s choice of Lemon Tart with Strawberry Coulis, were served alternately around the room, with lots of bowls of Cornish Clotted Cream for guests to devour.
What food did you choose for your Evening Buffet?
Victoria’s parents run a small farm, so we enjoyed home reared slow cooked pulled pork baps with crackling and apple sauce, and a large rustic cheese tower cake adorned with grapes, and plenty of crackers and chutneys.
What was your favourite part of the wedding? That’s an impossible question to answer! We loved so many parts.
What was the song for the first dance? John Legend – ‘All of Me.’
What is your top tip for other brides or grooms? Don’t panic if something doesn’t go quite to plan on the day…your guests will not know how it was ‘supposed’ to be!
