An English Spring brings hope and optimism as the days get longer and the temperatures start to rise. The cooler winter months are a distant haze, and as we enter the welcoming months of the UK Spring - March, April, and May - nature begins to show its incredible beauty and the metaphoric symbolism of spring, bursting to life, is demonstrated everywhere you look. The lawns and banks have a renewed vibrancy, dotted with little hints of colour as the crocuses and snowdrops begin to shoot through and come to life once again. Of course, it’s not just the landscape which blooms with a renewed abundance; vegetable gardens and allotments offer a harvest of fresh seasonal tastings making foodie hearts skip a beat. Super tasty spring menus are a keen must have for 2023 spring wedding trends. Think purple sprouting broccoli, beetroot, watercress, spring greens, asparagus, sweet jersey royals and rocket. Team these with locally landed fish for something truly local, or perhaps new season spring lamb will take centre stage.
To accompany your delicious foodie delights, you can wow with your guests with a seasonal and homemade elderflower champagne or cordial. A perfect excuse to get out in the countryside for some mindful foraging in the lead up to your wedding, and a secret moment of pride when your guests ‘ooh’ and ‘aah’ over the reception drinks that you created from scratch. For the younger guests or those looking for an alcohol-free reception drink, an elderflower mocktail or simple spritz can be a refreshing alternative, not to mention oh so moreish!

April is the start of the financial year, and for most, it is also the start of the annual leave calendar, meaning guests should have no issue in taking one day to spend it with their favourite couple! Spring is also when the bulk of the UK Bank Holidays fall, so you can benefit by extending your wedding celebrations without necessarily having to take any annual leave – weekend winner!
We’ve all heard the term ‘wedding season is upon us’. No-one wants to be labelled as just another 2023 wedding – why would you settle for that?! Why not take the bull by the horns and kick start the wedding season being the first; arguably the most memorable, and the one to set the bar! Ultimately, being the first newlyweds on the seasonal wedding circuit, and the ‘been there and so smashed it!’ smilers at the later season soirées, is an enviable place to be. In the UK Spring months (March, April and May), couples may well find that suppliers and venues have greater availability and honeymoon destinations can be much quieter and more desirable.
The warmer weather allows for outdoor receptions, adding a fun element to any day. Why not take advantage of the glorious open space with some lawn games, archery or even a boat trip if you are fortunate enough to sit beside the River Tamar like us. You could throw an Easter egg hunt for the younger (and the young at heart) guests – a fun distraction for the chocoholics - while entertaining for the observers waiting for the treasure bounty to be shared.
Florals become the theme for spring wedding guest dresses, and the pleasant climate eases the wardrobe woes of ‘what to wear’ and ‘how to dress’. Your guests can be comfortable without worrying about sunstroke or overheating.
