Job Opportunities at Pentillie Castle & Estate

Senior Gardener

To apply, please send an email to sammie@pentillie.co.uk and share how you would approach the role of Senior Gardener on the Pentillie Estate.

Please include any relevant experience of working in historic gardens, especially if you have any experience in historic gardens that are either open to the public, or are used as a wedding backdrop.

We would also love to hear how you would envisage working with a small family-led team and how you approach gardening with the environment in mind.

Your CV and notice period should be included as part of your application.

Interviews and the start date may vary depending on the candidate.

Housekeeping & Front of House

We are looking for an enthusiastic, hard-working individual who can work well within a motivated and friendly team.

The role will involve cleaning all public areas and bedrooms to the highest standard. While housekeeping can be physically challenging on occasion, the role is very rewarding with guest feedback and appreciation of your hard work.

This position is part-time and will be dependent on the needs of the business and guest changeovers. Shifts are usually 4-6 hours, and can vary from 1 to 4 shifts per week, often within school hours, with the occasional weekend days.

To apply and further discuss the role, please email housemanager@pentillie.co.uk or call 01579 350044.

Your CV and notice period should be included as part of your application.

Volunteer Garden Taster Morning

The Pentillie gardens are rich in history dating back to the late 17th century, and with 55 acres of woodland gardens, the list of jobs to do around the estate is very long to say the least!

While we continue our search for a new senior gardener, we'd like to give members of the community an opportunity to volunteer and make a real difference in a historic garden to learn more about the plants and gardening techniques at the same time.

Following Sue Bryant’s recent return to the team, who has many years of experience looking after volunteers and teaching young adults in gardens, we thought it was time we started a volunteer programme in the gardens here at Pentillie.

We will be hosting our first Garden Volunteer Taster Day on Tuesday 30th April, from 9am until 12 noon and we would love for you to join us.

No previous garden experience is required, just bring your gardening gloves and enthusiasm. Volunteers will be invited to assist in the maintenance and development of the Pentillie gardens through various tasks and activities.

Please complete the form in the button below to register your interest.

If you cannot attend on the 30th but you are interested in volunteering in the gardens, please still complete the form, and we will be in touch with an alternative date.

If you feel you have something to offer the Castle and business, even if we are not actively recruiting, please do feel free to send us a covering letter and CV at any time. We will always welcome any applicants.

Roles might include; houskeeping, bar staff, estate secretary.

Email contact@pentillie.co.uk or call 01579 350044.
