Outdoor Ceremonies

Marry in the Great Outdoors!

Our Wisteria-clad Pavilion and the Castle Loggia have proven to be very popular with our Pentillie couples, and with temporary laws now permanently extended, we are delighted to be able to offer couples the opportunity to legally marry at numerous other bespoke and intimate outdoor locations across the estate. Capacities for these new locations vary, allowing a greater choice for our elopement (2-6 all day), intimate (22 all day), castle (60 day/100 evening) and marquee weddings (120-200 day/150-250 evening). Please see a detailed list of locations below, and speak to our professional team to explore even more.

Relying on the weather…

Our riverside Bathing Hut provides a wet-weather option for outdoor ceremonies of up 60 guests, the Castle interiors offer a ‘plan b’ for weddings with up to 80 guests and we recommend an overhead marquee for larger numbers and those still dreaming of their outdoor setting.

Wisteria-clad pavilion, bespoke licensed ceremony location

Wisteria-clad Pavilion

When the wisteria blooms, the Pavilion provides a truly stunning backdrop for couples to officially wed. This is one of our largest licensed ceremony locations, extending onto The Old Tennis Lawn to seat up to 200 guests.

The rustic interior of the Pavilion can also be used for a smaller ceremony of 60 guests.

Castle Loggia

The loggia offers a truly grand setting to say your ‘I Do’s’ and has beautiful views across the River Tamar, seating up to 120 guests.

Fun fact: this is also where a marquee adjoins the Castle for our marquee wedding packages.

Lime Avenue

Say your ‘I Do’s’ in the long stretch of linden trees in the majestic Lime Avenue. One of our couples’ most desired spots for photographs and a favourite amongst our photographers.

While more suitable for an intimate wedding with up to 22, the surrounding banks allow for tiered standing and greater numbers.

The Front Lawn

With our historic Castle as your backdrop, the lawn is yours to style as you have always dreamed. Like Paul and Alec, you can even conveniently place your wedding cars into the landscape!

Seating up to 200 guests.

Stone Circle

Marry at the highest point on the estate, with incredible far-reaching views across the Tamar Valley and to Dartmoor. Perfect for couples looking to add a truly unique and ‘historical’ element to their special day.

Seating up to 200 guests, it looks incredible with chairs all around!

The Old Tennis Lawn

Couples can now choose to marry anywhere on the lawn, offering a luxurious open-air setting to make your own for a larger ceremony. The endless colours of the herbaceous borders, the grand rhododendrons and wisteria, alongside the river views and our country castle, all provide an incredible natural backdrop.

Seating up to 120 or 200 guests, dependant upon the exact location.

Under the Turkey Oak

Wed beside the River Tamar with spectacular views across the Tamar Valley, under the magnificent Turkey Oak. A perfect mix of country, charm and cheer.

Open grassland seating for up to 200 guests.

American Gardens

Take your vows surrounded by the grand rhododendrons and bluebells in the historic American Gardens. A sublime setting for an intimate outdoor ceremony, with just you and your closest loved ones.

The open grassland offers seating for both smaller and larger guest figures.

Walled Gardens

With the Victorian greenhouses (which also featured in Sky One’s Delicious) as your backdrop, the Walled Gardens offer a very intimate and rustic ceremony location. If you are lucky, you may even be joined by one of the estate peacocks too!

Seating for up to 60 guests on the lawns.

The Orchards

Surrounding the Walled Gardens are the beautiful apple orchards. With a bed of vibrant daffodils spread across the lawns in the Spring, this setting is full of natural colours and beauty.

Choose to marry amongst the trees, in the walk ways or beside the garden walls, with seating for up to 200 guests.
