How did your proposal happen (when and where)?
Ryan cooked an amazing 3 course meal at home - I had no idea what was going to happen! We have a photo of us both where Ryan is winking at the camera just before he got down on one knee. We laugh about how the camera knew before me! I didn’t see the photo until after he proposed.

How did you choose your venue?
After our original venue went under, we were a little disheartened to say the least. We looked at many venues online, but none stood out under we came across Pentillie. From the minute we started to look at the photos, we fell in love. Once Covid-19 allowed us to visit (still with a heavy heart and feeling a little frustrated of having to find a new venue), Pentillie turned it around with its breath-taking character and views, with the Bathing Hut sealing the deal!
Often the aspect that makes a wedding original to the couple is the detail/theme – tell us about the special details of the day and how you implemented them (colours, theme decorations, centre pieces, favours, photo booths, DIY etc).
Ryan picked his suit from day one, the burgundy then built up around that, with the burgundy bridesmaid dresses, napkins and flowers. We didn’t want to overdress Pentillie as its beauty stands on its own, so we kept everything quite simple. Our favours were pin badges from Macmillan Cancer - after both of us losing a parent to cancer, these had a special meaning to us. We chose a photo booth to capture the fun in the evening and a grazing table to bring something different!
Please give a brief account of your wedding planning story i.e. priorities, highs & lows, challenges.
With our first venue falling through and then Covid-19 restrictions forcing our date to be changed again, it began to take the joy out of the planning, but then we found Pentillie and Chrissie was so enthusiastic and passionate, it sparked the joy and excitement in all the planning again - we have often reflected that Pentillie would have been our first and only choice if we had found it earlier!
What food did you choose for your day, wedding breakfast and evening buffet, and why?
Seabass and steak are our 2 favourite meals so the menu Cooplet & Co created was perfect! We chose the fish and chip cones for the evening as we felt it is an all time classic and different from a standard buffet. Along with the grazing table, which just oozed colour and flavours whilst giving a wow factor and a fresh approach to a winter wedding.
What was the song for your first dance, and why?
JT Williams, Please Keep Loving Me - the words to the song were perfect and fitted. We listened to it a lot leading up to the day.
What was your favourite part of the wedding?
All of it! We couldn’t single any moment out, however, Ryan would choose the moment he turned up to the Castle and realised that the wedding was really going to happen, as one of his top moments.
What was the most important investment for you? For example, food, drink, clothes, honeymoon?
The venue!
What is your top tip for other couples?
To enjoy every moment of the day, try to relax and live in every moment as it goes so fast!
