Tell us how you met…
We met through the dating app Hinge, but after our first date we found out our best friends used to live together in their first year at university.
How did your proposal happen (when and where)?
It was our third anniversary of our first date, at Seaton Beach. We go back to Seaton Beach every year to celebrate our anniversary due to it being one of our favourite dates at the beginning of our relationship. This time we had our puppy with us barking at a kite surfer and the weather was not on our side, but it was still perfect!
What was your length of engagement?
We were engaged for 21 months.
In three words, how would you describe your wedding day?
Perfect, calm, and organised.
What made you choose Pentillie Castle?
Everything about it was what we wanted. The staff were really friendly whenever we met them for a private tour or at an open day. Although we wanted to get married outside, we loved the indoor ceremony location, the Bathing Hut is so romantic and unique. Pentillie Castle was also the perfect size for us as we knew we wanted about fifty day guests and we all fit comfortably without being swamped by the venue. The venue is stunning and a moment in itself.
Where did you take inspiration from for your big day? Pinterest/Instagram etc?
Most of the inspiration was from Instagram and I listened a lot to the “Unfiltered Bride” podcast to help with the planning.
What was the song for your first dance, and why?
Our first dance was to ‘Here’ by Tom Grennan. We chose this song on the drive home after Kieran proposed. Tom Grennan was our first concert together and I am big fan. The song itself said everything we wanted it to and built to an epic moment, which just felt right for our big day.
What was the highlight of your wedding day?
Other than marrying the love of my life…the food from Milkshed Catering. We said since the beginning of our planning process that food would be a high priority and it did not disappoint. They even brought us our own plate of canapés during the drinks reception!
Top tips for other couples?
The day is your day so do it how you want to. We made a few decisions that some people were not keen on, but we stuck with our guns, and I am so glad that we did.
When you start planning, pick an element or two that is most important to you and then adjust the other elements to fit your budget accordingly.
Any comments?
Just a big thankyou to everyone at Pentillie for making it such a special day. We would recommend it as a venue to anyone who is looking for an all-season, stunning venue. Rachael the venue wedding manager went above and beyond and acted as a wedding co-ordinator, and we felt she always had our interests at heart and did everything she could to make the wedding day as special as possible.
